Thanksgiving Day safety tips

11.25 THXGIVING KITCHEN SAFETYDid you know the number of kitchen fires triples on Thanksgiving Day?

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there’s an average of 1,300 kitchen fires on Thanksgiving Day compared to about 400 on other days of the year.

To cook your dinner safely, avoid loose clothing with long sleeves near ranges and ovens.

Also watch children closely so they don’t come in contact with hot stovetops and turn all pan handles toward the back of the stove to prevent children and others from spilling scalding contents on themselves.

If you’re cooking your bird in a turkey fryer, do it outside only and away from your home, not in your garage, and not on your porch.
