Yreka fire prompts evacuations

Update (06/26/17 6:15 p.m.) – The King Fire burning in Yreka is now 50% contained, according to CAL FIRE. So far, the fire has burned around 19 acres. All evacuations have been lifted.


Yreka, Calif. – Firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire in Yreka.

According to CAL FIRE, the 10-acre fire is located behind the Burger King in the south end of town.

The College of the Siskiyous’ Yreka campus has been evacuated. An advisory evacuation has been issued for residents from Upper Green Horn Park to the top of Greenhorn Road.
