Medford, Ore. — The Medford Education Association will be sending the Medford School District an official ten-day strike notice on Monday.
An official strike will begin on February 6 at 6 am.
In a statement released by the MEA, The Association is urging the Medford School Board to avoid the need for a strike by reaching a fair settlement immediately.
The MEA believes it has no choice at this time but to exercise its right to a lawful strike in order to induce the District to agree to a fair settlement.
On Thursday the teachers union voted in favor of a strike.
The teachers union and the district have been incontract negotiations for nearly a year, with some of the big sticking points including working conditions, wording, pensions and pay.
