14 wounded in California drive-by shooting

NC_14shot0718_1500x845Bakersfield, Calif. (KGET) — 14 people are hurt after gunfire erupted at a party overnight Saturday in Bakersfield, California.

Police say about 150 people, mostly teens, were at the party when the homeowners asked guests to leave.

They say the partygoers were in the home’s front yard and street when three people approached the crowd and started firing.

Two people were injured critically, but they are all expected to survive.

“There were vehicles parked on the street that were struck by gunfire, there were other homes that were struck by gunfire, and really, how nobody was killed is kind of a miracle,” Ray Pruitt, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, says.

The suspects remain at-large. It is unknown how many shots were fired or a motive behind the shooting, but they believe it could be gang-related.
