4 more lead pipes found in West Medford

Medford, Ore. — The Medford Water Commission uncovers another handful of lead pipes in West Medford. On Wednesday, crews potholed and found two lead pigtails at homes on Laurel Street, another on King Street, and a fourth on West 11th.

“We’ll be working on notifying those residents,” Public Information Coordinator Sara Bristol says, “seeing whether they want the testing done, and then removing the pigtails either later this week or next week.”

That brings the total to 13 lead pigtails found in the last year. So far only one water quality test has come back, it showed lead levels nearly 30-times the EPA’s action level.
