Abandoned infant found in Washington state neighborhood

Lakewood, Wash. – A 3-month-old baby was found lying alone in the grass in a Lakewood, Washington neighborhood.

KING reports the boy was found around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning by a person walking in the 8500 block of John Dower Road Southwest.

The person said they thought they heard a distressed animal. Instead, they found the infant.

When paramedics arrived, they found the boy was cold, but otherwise healthy and uninjured. Child Protective Services took custody of the child.

Police searched the surrounding area, but they were unable to locate any parents.

The boy was wearing a striped onesie with “Little Brother” printed on the front.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

According to KING, Washington has a “safe-haven law” that allows parents to leave a child that is under 72 hours old with someone at a fire station or emergency room, no questions asked.

As this child is believed to be 3-months-old, the law would not apply.
