Ashland temples on high alert

Ashland, Ore., — Dozens of bomb threats at Jewish community centers across the country over the last few weeks are leaving community leaders in Ashland on high alert.

None of the three Jewish temples in Ashland have been specifically targeted, but the city of Ashland has seen some anti-Semitic behavior in recent weeks.

At temple Havurah Shir Hadash, staff is always taking precautions.

“Now that it’s coming out in the surface we’re definitely taking more precautions, we’ve added more lighting, and we’re definitely being more cautious about a potential incident.” said Rabbi David Zaslow.

The temple also installed cameras and a security system two years ago.

Rabbi Zaslow says the Ashland Police have been extremely helpful, and maintain a great relationship when it comes to their safety.
