Baby giraffe born at Wildlife Safari

0524 baby giraffeWinston, Ore. – Wildlife Safari in Winston has announced for the first time in its 44-year history, a baby giraffe was born in the park.

The park said baby Kelley was born on May 15th at around 8:00 in the morning. He weighed 175 pounds and was 6’3” from head to toe.

Dan Van Slyke, Wildlife Safari’s Executive Director said, “We hope that this giraffe feels like the community’s baby. Giraffes are one of the most popular animals at the park and Kelley promises to be a summer sensation. The animal will provide the public the unique opportunity of getting up-close to a young, curious giraffe in our drive through setting.”

Baby Kelley will remain with his mother in the giraffe barn for a month or two before venturing out to the drive-through area of the park.
