Badger Fire stopped at 1.4 acres north of Yreka

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Ore. – The growth of a new fire in Siskiyou County has been stopped at 1.4 acres.

CAL FIRE said on August 20, the Badger Fire started on Hawkinsville Humbug Road near Badger Mountain, north of Yreka.

Just after 3:30 p.m., CAL FIRE said forward progress of the Badger Fire was halted at an estimated 2 acres. That number was later revised to 1.4 acres. As of 5:00 p.m., the fire was 65% contained.

There were no evacuations or road closures at the time of the latest report.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
