Candidates react to recent police shootings

nc_trump_1500x845(NBC News) — Donald Trump reached out to the African American community Wednesday, holding a campaign event in a Cleveland church.

Trump reacted to both police shootings that made headlines over the past 48 hours, first the shooting and killing of a black motorist with his hands up at the hands of Tulsa police.

“I don’t know what she was thinking,” Trump said. “I am very very troubled by that. I am very very troubled by that.”

The Republican presidential nominee also said we have to get to the bottom of the Charlotte shooting where police claim a man stepped out of his car with a gun.

Trump’s comments come as Hillary Clinton still leads in the polls.

A new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll shows Clinton beating Trump by six points among likely voters in a four way race.

When they go head-to-head, Clinton’s lead expands to seven points in the new poll.

Clinton was back on the campaign trail in the battle ground state of Florida Wednesday, where she said too many African Americans end up dead at the hands of police.

“We do know that we have two more names to add to a long list of African Americans killed by police officers. It’s unbearable. And it needs to become intolerable,” Clinton said.
