Donations help feed those in need this holiday season

Jackson County, Ore. — People in Jackson County are now benefiting from donations at Food 4 Less made back in September for Hunger Action Month.

Access Nutrition Programs Director Phillip Yates says nearly $4,000 was raised.

That money is being used to buy 4,000 pounds of turkey and beef to provide protein for families in need across the county.

Yates says there is a reason they waited until December to use the money.

“Families tend to extend themselves over the Christmas holidays, and then in January they have few resources. So we want to make sure that we will continue to be able to give them resources throughout the holiday months and throughout the winter months as well,” Yates said.

If you still want to donate, Food 4 Less is holding another donation event during the holidays.

Every dollar donated will turn into five pounds of food.
