Ridenour performs with the North Medford High School Wind Ensemble

NMHS band performs with world-class musicians

Medford, Ore. — A pair of internationally renowned musicians made an appearance at North Medford High School Friday evening.

Trumpeter Brandon Ridenour and pianist Cory Smythe performed for the Jackson County Community Concert series.

The North Medford High School Wind Ensemble got the unique opportunity to join Ridenour for part of the concert.

For some, hearing the jazz trumpet concert was a pleasant first.

“The guy playing on the trumpet is — he’s really funny but he’s also — I really like the style of the music it’s like a jazzy, it’s really cool,” commented North Medford volunteer Gisselle Lyon.

Ridenour was also joined by North Medford band director Steve Kessler and SOU trumpet professor Dan Kocurek to perform Buglers Holiday.

Both Ridenour and Smythe have performed at concerts around the world.
