Fire restrictions lowered

10-02-fireGrants Pass, Ore., — Thanks to the rain and cooler temperatures lately, fire restrictions have officially been lowered today.

The Oregon Department of Forestry made the announcement — which covers all of Southwest Oregon.

Beginning today, fire restrictions are now reduced from extreme to moderate.

while fire season is still in effect — this change offers a helping hand to firefighters.

“It just means we can take a breath this summer, as it begins to get a little moisture, when fires start they won’t run as fast, and we have a little bit more time to get on top of them.” said Grants Pass Fire Battallion Chief, Tim Delisle.

Fire prevention rules are still in effect, so that means no burning anywhere, and no fireworks or sky lanterns on forest or wild land.
