Five dead in Houston flooding

Houston, Tex. (NBC News) — At least five people are dead following widespread flooding in Houston, Texas and the surrounding area.

All of the deaths came from vehicles that had gone into high water at the height of the storm, which dumped more than a foot of rain in just a few short hours on Monday.

Forecasters are calling for even more rain Tuesday.

“The biggest mistake anyone can make is to assume that the worst is past,” warned Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Abbott declared a state of disaster in nine counties.
