Flag laying at Eagle Point National Cemetery

Eagle Point, Ore., — Children are honoring veterans in advance of the Memorial Day holiday by placing flags across the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Around 100 kids from Scenic Middle School spent several hours this afternoon placing about 20,000 small American flags on or near veterans graves.

“I think it’s really awesome because sometimes we don’t realize how much they do for us
and it’s just kinda nice to show respect.” said Olivia Kuhlman.

“It makes me feel really honored that I get to do this and honor the people who served for our country and our freedom.” said Jaidyn Campbell.

Scenic Middle School students have been doing this annual tradition for about 20 years.

The cemetery holds more than 17,000 graves.
