Former gymnastics coach pleads guilty to additional charges

0811 Jeffrey Bettman

Medford, Ore.- A Medford gymnastics coach has pleaded guilty to additional charges after he was discovered filming young girls as they changed clothes.

Jeffrey Bettman was sentenced to 25 years in prison earlier this month on federal charges. Friday’s plea was related to additional charges filed by Jackson County. Those additional charges include using a child in a display of explicit sexual display of conduct. Jackson County dropped 20 counts of sex abuse.

Bettman was sentenced to 70 months in prison for the new charges. That sentence will run concurrently with the federal sentence. Following his release, Bettman will be under post-prison supervision for the rest of his life.

Bettman admitted to filming female students, ages nine to 15, over the course of 20 years. He committed the crimes at gyms in both California and Oregon. Police have identified 49 victims from the videos and photos taken while serving a search warrant.
