Heat from parked car ignites fire in Talent

Talent, Ore. — Fire District 5 and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a fire on Adams Road in Talent at around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.

According to firefighters, a car was parked in a carport and the heat from the engine a ignited a pile of leaves that had collected over the fall which in turn ignited a pile of wood and then the carport.

Fire District 5 Chief Vince Lockett said, “You know, fire season is here. Think about what you’re doing, be careful.”

Nobody was hurt. Crews were able to put the fire out within minutes of arriving, though the carport and shed attached to it were destroyed.
