Hundreds turn out to Talent for second Day of the Dead Race and Festival

Talent, Ore. — Over two-hundred runners braved the fall air this morning to participate in the Day of the Dead race.

The second annual Day of the Dead Race and Festival kicked off at 9 this morning outside of Talent City Hall.  People had the choice of running one mile, a 5k, or a 10k.

The festival got started shortly after, featuring face-painting booths, food trucks and local businesses.

Organizers say the festival is the perfect way to take part in the Latino tradition.

“Day of the Dead is the way to celebrate the life of a past loved one. It’s a way to not be in mourning, but actually just celebrate their life. It’s a beautiful thing, because your not alone in that pain,” said event director Chela Sanchez.

The festival lasted into the afternoon, ending at 3:00.

Organizers say they’ve already started planning for next year’s event.
