Jackson County elected officials get pay raise

Medford, Ore., — The Jackson County Board of Commissioners are getting raises.

Their pay will go up to $100,000 starting in January 2017.

Colleen Roberts is sticking to her campaign pledge to keep her current salary. She currently makes around $70,000.

With the raise, Roberts would make over $96,000 starting this summer.

She says,” When your elected officials make 3 or 4 times the average salary of the working person, supporting it it kind of takes away some of the feel of being the elected representative.”

The commissioners get a raise every year, but the last one of this magnitude was in 2008. All other elected officials will be getting raises as well, including the Jackson County Sheriff and the County Clerk.
