Klamath Co. voters reject retail marijuana dispensaries

0518 Klamath MarijuanaKlamath County, Ore. — The most controversial item on the Klamath County ballot was whether to allow state licensed medical and retail marijuana dispensaries in the county.

Measure 18-105 aimed to overturn the county ban.

The hot button issue even brought the president and CEO of Sky Lakes Medical Center to take a stand on the political issue and come out against lifting the ban.

Unofficial results from the May 17th election show Klamath County residents  rejecting the measure, with 56.9% voting “no”.

Chief petitioner Ilo Ferroggiaro said he’ll keep his medical grow in Klamath County, but open a commercial grow elsewhere. “What it really means to Klamath County is, that besides the loss of jobs, there will be one more house on the market,” said Ilo.

The vote does not impact operations of medical marijuana dispensaries in the City of Klamath Falls.
