Live demonstration of Christmas tree on fire

Medford, Ore.– In a matter of seconds your Christmas tree could catch on fire and wreak havoc on your home.

Medford Fire and Rescue hosted a live fire demonstration on Thursday involving Christmas trees.

They hope by showing the potential dangers you’ll keep you and your family safe.

Deputy Chief Greg Kleinberg says more than 2,500 people die in home fires every year, more than all natural disasters combined.

“It’s important because I don’t think people realize if they have a fire in their home how quickly that can be life threatening,” Kleinberg said.

He also said if your tree stops taking water, get rid of it, and remember that installing smoke detectors and sprinklers can save lives.
