Local gun sales surge in wake of gun control talks

gunsMedford, Ore. — Local gun stores are seeing a surge in sales, as the conversation around gun control heats up in Washington. At “Guns R Us”, sales are up about 50% in the last couple of weeks and they say background checks are also taking a lot longer to complete. Between the 3rd and 4th of December, there were 3,000 background checks requested.

“Things will start going out of stock,” owner, Jonathan Purtzer says, “and then things will start to raise, people start to get more interested because supply and demand goes up, so we’ve definitely seen that.”

Other local gun stores we spoke with, say they’re seeing an increase in sales too. Some attribute it to political talks about gun control, but others say the holidays are always a busy time for gun purchases.
