ALL NEW: Eagle Point Teachers Continue to Protest

The Eagle Point School strike continues Wednesday morning. Teachers showed up at the high school shortly after 6 AM.

Overnight in an e-mail, Union reps told NBC 5 that many teachers will be out picketing at their schools.

Also in the Districts overnight e-mail, officials say striking employees will not be paid while their off, nor receive benefits.

Officials from both sides will get back to negotiating Thursday morning, around 11 AM.

After 14 months, the two sides are not finding common ground. Right now, the discussion is centered on classroom instructional time and insurance for part time workers.

The strike is also impacting substitute teachers. Hundreds of subs arrived at Eagle Point high school Tuesday morning. When they left, teachers protested in front of their bus. At this point, district officials say they’ve had no problems getting subs.

Meanwhile, students say they’re concerned about learning material from a teacher they’re not familiar with.
