Alleged trespasser in critical condition after being chased by homeowner

Central Point, Ore. — A Central Point man takes matters into his own hands after finding someone trespassing in his home.

It all started around 6:30 this morning at a home on S. 1st Street in Central Point. Police said a homeowner caught a 32-year-old man trespassing in his home. When the suspect ran the homeowner got into his vehicle and followed.

Police said shortly after the homeowner hit the suspect with his vehicle on Cedar and S. Front Street.

The suspect is in critical condition.

NBC5 talked to a family member of the homeowner who said the whole thing was an accident, that the homeowner never meant to hit the man.

Central Point Police are investigating. There is no word on any charges for either the alleged trespasser or the homeowner.
