Ashland Chef takes new ownership of The Bohemian Club

Medford, Ore.– Ashland restaurant owner and chef, Neil Clooney is getting ready to make one of Medford’s oldest buildings, one of it’s newest places to eat.

“Im excited to be coming to Medford.”

Clooney is taking over The Bohemian Club on Main Street. He’s the owner of Ashland’s popular meat centric restaurant, Smithfield’s. He took over leasing the historic building in September. And said it’s time for Medford to have new cuisine.

“I think Medford has a lot of bars. This place used to be a bar that served food. We want to really make this place to be a restaurant that has a bar so that we can get that more restaurant clientele.”

Clooney and his business partner also took over the former Sky Bar. the bar and restaurant will operate under one name, ‘The Bohemian Club.’

“People in Medford want to see more restaurants in Medford. More options for places to eat out for dinner apart from the corporate restaurants.”

The Senior Vice President of Travel Medford part of the Chamber of Commerce saidthis is an addition to downtown they’ve envisioned.

“It’s very exciting to have a chef that is well known in the Rogue Valley and in Oregon be a part of Medford as well,” said Anne Jenkins.

Clooney said the new Bohemian Club will carry a southern cuisine inspired menu.

“From BBQ to fried chicken, jalapenos, brisket chilli.”

Old American classics for a new addition to Downtown Medford.

Clooney said the owner of Havana Republic just wanted to hand the restaurant over to someone else. Sky Barclosed in August when Havana Republic Closed but Sky Bar is back open under the new ownership.
