Medford, Ore. –An Ashland High School alum was featured as one of Food & Wine magazine’s top sommeliers of 2018. Jessica Hereth was first nominated for the honor, and chosen by the magazine.
“Well at first I was confused,” Hereth admits. “I said yes, thinking I was going to have to apply or send in a resume. Then she explained I had been nominated by and was in the top seven! I was so surprised.”
Hereth currently works in Portland as the sommelier for Olympia Provisions’ two restaurants, but she hasn’t let go of her Southern Oregon roots.
“We are starting to see a lot more Southern Oregon wine trending in the Portland market – at least grapes grown in Southern Oregon if not wines made in Southern Oregon itself,” Hereth said.
