Bonanza woman charged with multiple counts of animal neglect

Klamath Falls, Ore. –A Bonanza woman was booked and released on Sunday on multiple counts of animal neglect.

39-year-old Lisa Jo Luttrell has been charged with 8 counts of first-degree animal neglect, and one count of animal abuse.

7 horses and 2 goats were seized from her property by sheriff’s deputies in early January. The horses are now being cared for at the Klamath Large Animal Shelter.

“They were very thin – we probably had them up to a month, a little over a month now – and they’re gaining weight, they seem to be doing a lot better,” said Dawn Keen from the Klamath Large Animal Shelter.

Deputies say one horse died from starvation shortly after the rescue. The surviving horses are still being evaluated, and will eventually be put up for adoption.
