Bringing The Latino Community & Medford PD Together

Anew survey is expected to come out this fall in hopes of breaking the cultural gap between the 12% population of Latinos in Medford and the police department.

Oregon Health Sciences University is going to conduct a survey that will ask Latino and Hispanic residents about their encounters with the police.

But local’s aren’t sure if the survey will do any good.

“I dont think it will help because everyone has a different opinion and they are scared,” said Laura Leon, a Medford resident.

Leon says she has had pleasant experiences with police officers.

According to the University, previous data shows that relationships between latinos and police officers are “strained.”

They hope the survey will help bring the two sides together.
