Cave Junction, Ore. – Rain or shine without trouble, or after an attempted arson, members of the Community Bible Church in Cave Junction don’t let much hold them back.

“The damage is relatively minor, so it’s not interfering with anything we normally do, ” said Pastor Dave Gordon.

Oregon State Police is investigating the crime. Detectives say between Thursday night and Friday morning, someone set fire to the doors using an accelerant. Thomas Rogers, who’s been attending Community Bible Church for 35 years, says while he was sorry to hear it happened, he’s not letting it affect his attitude.

“The building’s not really damaged, it’s something we can fix, no sense getting mad over it, it just wastes good energy, ” said Rogers.

Rogers says through songs and prayer, they’ll be just fine. And as for whoever tried to set fire to the church? Pastor Gordon says they’re hoping for justice but that’s not the only outcome of the crime.

“A consequence that they probably didn’t expect, there’s now going to be a whole church full of people praying for them, on a real intense basis, hoping that whatever’s going on with them can get straightened out.”
