Southern Oregon under flood warning as rain continues to fall

FLOODING PICJackson/Josephine County, Ore. – Much of Southern Oregon and Northern California is under a flood warning, now through late tonight. In Jackson County, the rain has been falling since early this morning, and is expected to continue through the night. According to the National Weather Service, since midnight, just over one inch has fallen in Medford. Rock slides have been reported in Trail and the Rogue River is swollen this evening. People in the area who we spoke with say they’re ready for anything.

“It might be a little bit of a problem, but there’s not much we can do, just going to hang on and call it a day. It’s raining, it’s Oregon! It’s what we’ve been needing for a while, ” said Victor Gutierrez.

We also checked in with ODOT tonight, roadways have remained clear in Jackson County, however crews continue to monitor the latest conditions. Meanwhile in Josephine County, crews kept a close eye on Highway 1-99 today. You can see the water was level with the road, just north of Kerby. ODOT officials are urging the public to drive according to the conditions and watch out for standing water, or fallen trees. If you do come across a hazard, to report it.
