Chiloquin shooting victim identified

Chiloquin, Ore. – A Chiloquin man is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest…but no arrests have been made.

The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting took place at around 5:30 Thursday afternoon.

Sergeant Darren Frank says it’s still unclear just where in Chiloquin the shot was fired…

“The victim was dropped off at the ambulance station, in a POV – a personally owned vehicle.”

Police say 26 year old Mark Garcia was shot in the chest with a small caliber weapon.

“Then he was transported by medical staff to Sky Lakes Medical Center.” Adds Sgt. Frank.

Investigators say no suspects or persons of interest have been identified.

“There have been no arrests made.” Says Sgt. Frank. “And as I have said, it’s still under investigation.”

Garcia was stabilized at Sky Lakes, then taken to a hospital outside the area.

His condition is unknown.

The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency on the investigation.
