Death Near Chiloquin Triggers Homicide Investigation

The Klamath County Major Crime Team is busy tonight investigating a homicide, after a 28 year old man was found dead near Chiloquin…

The victim has been identified as Cheng Saechao, who was found dead on a county road.

“Mister Saechao has been around locally for a short period of time, we believe.” Noted Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge. “But he’s from the Portland area.”

The incident took place just before 8 Monday night near the junction of South Chiloquin Road and Highway 62.

Evidence suggests that Saechao may have hit the ground from a moving vehicle.

None of the witnesses we spoke to wished to appear on camera. Several said that they were curious as to whether the man jumped, or was pushed from the car.

“Something happened from a moving vehicle.” Said D.A. Patridge. “But we’re not sure as to cause of death, and final injuries.”

Police identified 33 year old David Guy Mogelberg as a person of interest in the case.

Patridge adds that Mogelberg turned himself in to police at about 1:30 this afternoon in Sprague River…

“We’re currently talking with Mister Mogelberg, and proceeding with the investigation with him. We still have one unidentified person of interest out there, we’re trying to identify that person.”

That person is only identified at this time as an adult white male, there may also be an additional person involved.

Police are asking for help from the public in solving the crime.

Police have located a Jeep Cherokee that had been identified as a possible suspect vehicle, that vehicle is now being processed by investigators.
