Family reaches settlement with JoCo foster care system for alleged molestation

Grants Pass, Ore.–A settlement reached tonight in the case of a young girl allegedly molested while in the Josephine County foster care system.

Former Grants Pass resident Amie Mount says her nine- year-old daughter was put into foster care through the josephine county department of human services for three weeks..

During that time she said her daughter was molested by two teenage boys. Mount filed a lawsuit in April 2013 and today that lawsuit against DHS was settled.

“The lawsuit, unfortunately, that’s how you get justice from the state although no amount of money could ever erase what happened to her. You know everything that happened to our family, the process. From this point on it’s just kind of about moving forward,” said Mount.

Mount said the settlement was for more than 200 thousand dollars. She now lives in South Dakota with her daughter who Mount says said is receiving counseling.
