Local man's BASE jump captures internet interest

Talent, Ore.– Imagine flying through the sky. It’s something many dream of. For, Blake Burwell it’s something he actually does.

For the past year and a half the 31-year-old has been involved in a hobby that may seem unbelievable to some, BASE jumping.

He jumps off off cliffs and buildings. A recent video of Burwell soaring through Norway is getting thousands of hits on Youtube. His friends holding his hands and ankles to throw him off the 3,000 foot cliff.

“The fear and the reality of what you’re doing definitely keeps you alive and makes sure that you make good judgement calls,” said Burwell”

But he said it’s not as simple as just jumping off off high places. Burwell has had rock climbing experience for almost 20 years. And Sky diving experience for five.

With 75 jumps under his wing, Burwell said he is going to continue pursuing his passion.

The sport is illegal on Oregon private property.
