Floridians Cast Their Ballots

Florida votes today, and if you believe the polls, it’s looking like a big win for Mitt Romney.

Can Newt Gingrich overcome a flood of negative ads and win the battleground state

Gingrich said this morning he’s in this race until the summer convention, and his supporters think he has something Romney doesn’t.

“I’m not looking for pretty boy candidates, I’m looking for a bulldog,” says Sean Chichersky. “I’m looking for someone who can fight…if I’m looking for who I want my back in a bar room brawl, I think Newt’s the guy I’d like to have my back.”

Gingrich insisted this morning if he loses Florida, it won’t be by much.

“The conservative candidates are going to get far more votes than Mitt Romney and this is a long, long way from being over,” he predicted.

There are 50 delegates at stake in the winner-takes-all primary.

Early voting is about 20 percent higher than 2008, but the overall turnout may be lower because there was a big property tax cut on the ballot four years ago.
