Follow up- Girl scout camps & Josephine county attempted kidnaping

Tonight the Josephine county sheriff’s office is still on the hunt for a man they say attempted to kidnap a 15 year old girl in O’brien. authorities say it happened on thursday evening, when a masked man tried to pull the young girl into his van.

The suspect is believed to have blonde hair and driving a flat black van with unknown california plates. it has tinted windows with visible bubbles in the tinting and a dent on the rear passenger side. if you have any information, you’re asked to contact authorities immediately.

Girl scout grief, a longtime haven for young women on the chopping block. two longtime girl scout camps that have been a rite of passage for empowering young women for decades in southern oregon are now in jeopardy.

Camp Tomlin, which is east of Medford, and camp low echo, at lake of the woods, have been targeted for a shutdown by the girl scouts of Oregon and southwest Washington. the scouts have established a “hit list” of camps it might close or abandon to cut costs.The two-state council is property heavy, ranking sixth in the nation in property ownership, but 50th of 112 councils by membership. Former scouts with whom we spoke say the camps are an essential experience in developing leadership skills and building memories through girl scouts.
