Ashland, Ore. — Restaurants from around Ashland gathered for a food fest Sunday night to bring awareness to GMOs, also known as genetically modified organisms.
It was part of the Food Integrity Project..
13 restaurants that offer GMO-free options on their menu including Mystic Treats, Raw Juice Bar, and Sammy’s Bistro gave out samples.
Families for Food Freedom is the non profit that put this event together.
“It’s something that people are looking for. The more awareness that grows about GMO free food, people are really seeking it and a lot of times you go out and eat you don’t know where you can find that kind of food,” said Katie Oppenheimer.
Restaurants that offer at least three GMO-free items will receive a sticker to display at their locations. The non-profit hopes more restaurants will consider using GMO-free foods.
