ABend resident and former Oregon congressman has been sentenced to one year in federal prison.
On Monday, a judge ordered 80-year-old Wester Cooley to pay $3.5 million in restitution to 400 investor victims and $138,000 to the I.R.S.
Investigator say Cooley lured victims into buying misleading stock, and then received a $1.1 milliontax return.
Cooley served as the Republican representative for Oregon’s 2nd congressional district from 1995 to 1997.
