Girlfriend: Teen suspect would never try to kill anyone

Medford, Ore.– Tosha Cook said this month would be her three year anniversary dating Shylo Ramirez.

A celebration crushed now that her boyfriend is in jail.

“He is my best friend in the whole wide world. He has gone through so much in his life he was going back to school,” said Cook.

The- 17-year- old is now facing an attempted murder charge. Cook said the whole thing stemmed from Ramirez trying to protect her from an 18-year-old whogot too aggressive trying to win her over.

“Was trying to date me trying to be my boyfriend he was saying inappropriate things.”

Cook said she knew the two were meeting that night back in Augustbut had no idea the fight would escalate the way it did.Police said Ramirez tried to shoot the victim but that the gun malfunctioned. So he beat him with it instead.

“I didn’t make him do what he did hes a big boy he made the wrong decision with the wrong people.”

Ramirez’s aunt and guardian said her nephew would never try to kill.

“It’s breaking my heart because I know Shylo would never do anything like that.”

Brenda Taylor admits, Ramirez has a rough background but said he was trying to get his life back on track.

“He was so excited for the first day of school.”

A better life put on hold, when a fight went too far. That tore more than just a couple apart.

Police have not released the name of the victim. But say he was treated at a doctor’s office for cuts and had to get stitches in his head.

Ramirez is being held in juvenile detention right now. But he’s expected in court on Friday and will be tried as an adult.
