Grants Pass, Josephine County team up in economic development plan

Grants Pass, Ore. – The Grants Pass City Council hosted the Josephine County Commissioners, as well as ECONorthWest on Monday, in the first meeting to discuss a new economic development stimulus plan. The process has been in the works for roughly a year and half, however the 11:45 AM meeting was the first time all parties were in the same room, discussing the upcoming process.

The goal is to give the local economy a jump-start, and reassess what positive attributes the community already has. Grants Pass City Manager Aaron Cubic said the project will make a difference down the road.

“It takes and really solidifies the partnership between the county and the city,” Cubic said. “Utilizing our resources in the most efficient and effective way possible.”

Topics brought up in the meeting included marijuana, and the timber industry. City Councilors and County Commissioners say they’re planning on taking community input as the plans continue to develop.
