Josephine County woman concerned with animal control investigation

Applegate Valley, Ore. — An Applegate valley woman is filing a complaint against Josephine County for the way they are handling an animal control investigation.

Debra Catalina took this picture of a cow near Williams last week, she says for days the cow laid in the exact same spot, unable to move.

Concerned about the cow’s welfare, she contacted Josephine County Animal Control, but says little has been done, and she’s upset with the way they are handling the investigation.

“It’s obvious the animal was starving to death, it’s obvious that statutes were being violated, with regards to, if an animal cannot be cured, you must euthanize it.”

Josephine County Commissioner Cherryl Walker, who is also the head liaison of animal control, told us today that the animal was euthanized last week. And their policy is not to discuss details of their investigation while cases are open.
