K S Wild employee threatened

Ashland, Ore.– Morgan Lindsay said her co-worker at K S Wild was a victim of violent threats.

She said gold minersare upset about a recent ruling K S Wild supports, to tighten mining restrictions. But the threats were taken too far.

“Some really concerning comments on Facebook, my co-worker has a young family and this is just not the kind of thing that’s acceptable,” said Lindsay.

K S Wild is a Southern Oregon non-profit working to conserve lands, streams, and rivers. The ruling puts restrictions at suction dredging.

“They use a gasoline powered pump to suck out a part of the bottom of the river and filter it looking for gold,” said Lindsay.

Lindsay also said the threats were violent and even exposed where her co-worker lives.

Ashland Police said they could not comment Wednesday. But Lindsay said they’ve been investigating, increasing patrols outside their office and her co-worker’s home.

But Lindsay said no matter what their work will continue. They just hope it can continue in peace.

“We know that a huge part of the community is with us and stands with us and so we really want to get the message out to the miners that this bullying is not tolerated.”

Lindsay said the threats started in February and have since tapered off. She said he co-workerhasn’treceivedany threats in weeks.
