Manslaughter Plea

The mother of a murdered teen spoke to the man that fired the fatal shot in Klamath County court this morning.

20 year old Reggie Townsend will spend 15 years in prison for a drive-by shooting that left 18 year old Troy Allen dead. The victim’s mother, Barbara Allen, noted that others could have also been killed when she addressed Townsend in the courtroom…

“This wasn’t just a drive-by.You were there to argue. Argue about Ed’s sticking out, and fighting – and you just said ‘F’ it, and started shooting. You came an inch and a half from hitting Petey, or Badger’s head as he was laying in another room.”

The shooting took place in November of 2010 at a home in the Agency Lake area near Chiloquin. Townsend admitted in court to being the gunman…

“We were driving to the house, I told him ‘just go a little farther’. As soon as he looked away, I slipped the gun out the window, and just fired at the house.”

Co-defendant Danny Torres was sentenced last week to over six years in prison for his role in the shooting. 20 year old Ezzard Jackson was also in the car at the time of the shooting, he’s also serving a six year sentence.

Barbara Allen showed Townsend pictures of her son at the sentencing hearing…

“We got screwed on this. Because when you come out, you’re still going to be a young man.”

Townsend also had a message for parents…

“Whenever you see those little kids acting up, let them know – what happens – situations go bad.”

Initially charged with murder, Townsend pled guilty to manslaughter as part of a negotiated agreement.

Investigators say the incident was sparked by a dispute that had taken place in Chiloquin the night before. All three defendants had been drinking heavily prior to the shooting.
