Medford Police investigating daytime burglary

MEDFORD, ORE. –Medford Police are investigating a burglary that happened in broad daylight in East Medford, Friday.

It happened between 8am and noon, on the 800 block of Wabash Ave.

Police say the thief made off with nearly $6,000 worth of items, including two handguns.

Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau says the thief also made off with a family heirloom, a wedding ring, a lot of other jewelry, and electronics.

Investigators believe the suspect may have made it through an unlocked door, or a large doggy door.

While there was no dog inside, Lt. Budreau said, “dogs can be a great deterrent away from total strangers but it doesn’t protect you as well as a home security system.”

Lt. Budreau says burglars usually avoid homes with security systems.
