Officials: Alleged shooting at Medford hotel was a hoax

Medford, Ore. — Medford Police say at 2:09 p.m. on Monday a man called the non-emergency 911 line saying he shot his wife and was going to kill himself and his two children next. Then police say the call was dropped.

Police said people staying at Best Western had the option of staying or leaving but no one was allowed int he area during the investigation. Armed police searched all of the 258 rooms at the motel. Nearby Black Bear Diner restaurant was put on lock-down as well.
