Mother of missing girl pleads for community’s help

Medford, Ore. — Billie Jo Dick is living every parents worst nightmare. She is on day 16 in the search for her daughter Danielle Bertolini.

“I’m so numb now I don’t even know where to begin. I feel like I’m running in circles,” Dick said.

The 23 year-old was last seen February 9th in Humboldt County. Dick said friends and family have been searching around the clock in both Medford and Northern California. Dick thought she could be in Southern Oregon because she was born in Medford and still has friends and family in the Rogue Valley. She said disappearing like this is uncharacteristic of her daughter and she knew something was wrong when Bertolini stopped calling her sister.

“That’s not Danielle. Danielle calls to talk to her sister every day and her sister is worried sick,” Dick said.

Dick said her daughter is at risk because she has bipolar disorder and doesn’t take medicine. She has also battled addiction.

“She’s had a rough time and she needs help. Not just for the addiction but she needs help. Somebody’s got to have seen something to bring her home. I’m asking for help,” Dick said.

She said after not hearing from her daughter for over two weeks the family is hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.

“My worst fear is not being able to find her and when we do it won’t be a rescue mission. It will be a recovery mission,” Dick said.

Laura Franks, Bertolini’s aunt and Medford resident, said the family has put up flyers all over the valley and have received unbelievable support from the community.

“People have just been everywhere. We’re just beside ourselves with the people that are helping us look for her,” Franks said.

Dick said she won’t stop searching until she finds her daughter.

“Whether it’s a rescue or a recovery I will go to my grave to find my daughter,” Dick said.

Until then the family will continue to pray for answers.

The family is urging anyone with any information to call Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707)445-7251 or the California Police Department at (707)725-7550. You can also send information to [email protected]. The case number is 55-14-000319.
