Klamath Falls authorities searching for murder suspect

Person of Interest Suspect 1

Klamath Falls, Ore. – A manhunt is on in Klamath Falls for a suspect wanted in connection with a murder at a Klamath Falls motel.

Housekeeper Breanne King found the body at about 12:30 Sunday morning in room 63 of the River Park Inn, “my boss told me to do a welfare check – and I stuck one foot in, and I seen what had happened.”  ‘Pretty bad?’  “Yeah – I’ve never seen anything like it.”

The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Rick William Aston of Klamath Falls but authorities aren’t saying how Aston was killed.

“Mister Aston was killed with a deadly weapon.”  Says Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge.  “Until we finish the investigation, we’re not at liberty to say who we, what the type of weapon that was used was.”

Patridge adds that police wasted no time in identifying a possible suspect, “we have a manhunt going right now for Matt Reyes – he’s our suspect in this murder case.”

36-year-old Matthew Dean Reyes is a Native American male, standing six foot one, and weighing about 225 pounds.

Investigators are also looking for Reyes’ 19-year-old sister Jaurdyn Mosttler as a person of interest.

State Police have been processing the crime scene – meanwhile, Breanne King is still trying to come to grips with what she saw.

“Very upsetting.”  Noted King.  “And scared – I can’t believe it happened.”

The district attorney would not speculate on any possible motive behind the incident. The Klamath County Major Crime Team has been activated.

This is the third murder that has happened in Klamath County since December 2nd.
