New Bill in Salem Would Automatically Register Oregonians to Vote

A new plan being presented in Salem on Wednesday would make it easier for Oregonians to register to vote.

Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown is speaking with legislators

on Wednesday.

In her proposal, Oregon driver-license data and information from other government agencies would automatically register citizens to vote.

Under the bill, they would be registered as non-affiliated voters, and a letter in the mail would explain how to change parties.

Last year, 83% of Oregonians were registered to vote, one of the highest in the country.
