Tuition Equity Bill Heads to Senate for Final Vote

A bill to grant in-state tuition to undocumented students in Oregon is headed to the Senate for a final vote.

House bill 2787 passed the Senate Education and Workforce Development Committee by a narrow margin of 3 to 2 on Tuesday.

The bill has already cleared the House, and has the support of Governor John Kitzhaber.

The bill would grant in state tuition to dedicated students in Oregon meeting several criteria, including the intention to become a lawful permanent resident.
