Parents held a rally at the Medford School District Office Wednesday night along with hundreds of others, including teachers and students. They say they are fed up and want this strike over with.
Bargaining teams for both sides have been in negotiations again since 9:30 this morning, both at the Rogue Regency Inn this time. There have been some conversations face to face throughout the day. The district told NBC 5 that as of 2:30 this afternoon, 2 proposals had been exchanged. They said the progress is slow, but there is movement. Both parties said they agreed to keep the focus at the table today, and wouldn’t release any details of the proposals or the negotiations to the public. They did say they are optimistic.
Lisa North of the MEA said “we are very encouraged that they are still at the tables negotiating as long as progress is made towards a settlement, then we can keep our hopes up.”
Medford School District Superintendent Dr. Phil Long said “we are continuing to move along, this turned out to be more work than we anticipated. But I think both parties are committed to working until we can get something down on paper, I just honestly don’t know how long that’s going to take”
